WORK EXPERIENCE
The employers below are my "official" work history. Several are startups that we were able to make viable for a period!
OWNER & SR. CONSULTANT
The BTS Group
Seattle, WA | 2008 - 2022
Owner of an MSP and IT consulting business that was sold in 2022. Provided support for servers, networks and cloud infrastructure on both a monthly recurring and project basis. Major customers included Microsoft and Weyerhaeuser. The most recent project was the implementation of ITIL processes and systems for a hardware device business unit at Microsoft.
CIO
Oak Ridge Technology Connection
San Diego, CA / Oak Ridge, TN | 2002 - 2007
Responsible for all IT related services for this consulting company partnered with Oak Ridge National Labs (ORNL). The same investors that started Cayenta asked me to come help them with this startup. Managed the development and commercialization of licensed software code from ORNL at the core of a KM system used by SMEs. Delivered increased functionality to the system users, reducing labor efforts by 30%.
DIRECTOR NETWORK INFRASTRUCTURE & ENGINEERING
Cayenta Inc.
San Diego, CA | 1999 – 2002
Responsible for both the back office and customer-facing systems of this ASP business. This was a startup purchased by defense contractor Titan who was looking to move into the private sector and increase their price per share at a faster rate than the public sector allows. Heavily involved as the technical sales expert for hosting and consulting services.
SR. NETWORK ENGINEER
Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher
Los Angeles, CA | 1998 – 1999
Designed and implemented advanced enterprise systems across the company’s 13 world-wide offices.
SR. NETWORK ENGINEER

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR
Various: Sanwa Bank, Great Western Bank, Unimed
Los Angeles, CA | 1990 – 1997
Started my career performing various system admin tasks for these enterprise sized organizations (listed in chronological order).
SIDE VENTURES
I have a soft spot for startups (Cayenta, Oak Ridge, and BTS were all startups at one point). The positions below were/are side hustles that, in most cases, we just couldn't get off the ground.
COO
PRESAGE Financial
Seattle, WA | 2022 - Present
I'm helping this bookkeeping and accounting firm with its processes and technology.
COO
AERS HPC
San Diego, CA (Remote) | 2021 - 2022
An old friend brought me in to work with this group to find funding for their 'high performance computing (HPC) as a service' startup. Unfortunately, the value proposition just didn't work in an already crowded space.
IT Director / COO
DFY Managed Solutions
Toronto, CN (Remote) | 2020 - 2021
DFY "franchised" MSP and Digital Marketing businesses. We were responsible for running the day-to-day for silent investors who wanted passive income.
CEO
waYve Technologies
San Diego, CA | 2005 - 2006
Worked to find funding for this software-defined radio (SDR) startup. While it was a revolutionary idea, it was also a disruptive technology that VC's weren't ready to believe in.
